The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Rohit Sharma as the captain of their T20 World Cup 2024 squad. The T20 World Cup 2024 is set to take place soon, prompting teams to put together their best players.
Deadlines to turn in final player lists approach, and fans want to know which cricketers will make the cut. India looks set to field a strong side for the T20 World Cup 2024 after a heartbreaking ICC ODI World Cup 2023 final.
Fans expect popular names like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to make their final lists. However, some surprises may take place seeing India has a massive pool of talent. Let’s explore every angle of the current selection debacle India finds itself in. We’ll look at current big names making rounds and who would likely feature for India at the tournament.
Will Rohit and Virat Open for India in T20 World Cup 2024?
Rohit Sharma is set to open for India at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. However, it’s not that certain for Virat Kohli. There have been rumours of other players snatching the opening role from Virat for quite a while. Names like Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal pop up every now and then. It will not be a total surprise if Kohli doesn’t get to feature as an opening batsman this time around.
Cricketers like Shubman continue to show their prowess in T20 cricket, snatching remarkable run numbers across games. Yashasvi has not had the best of seasons so far, but his 620+ runs in IPL 2023 are too hard to ignore.
Are Other Players Keen on Opening for India at the T20 World Cup?
Other Indian cricketers like Shivam Dube and Riyan Parag will snatch the privilege to feature for their country at the upcoming World Cup. Both players have several impressive performances in T20 cricket to back up their claim to a squad post at least.
