Lehmann Applauds “Superstar” Bumrah and Predicts India’s Next Test Captain

Former Australian head coach Darren Lehmann believes Jasprit Bumrah is a superstar and could be set to take over as India’s captain:

“Oh, superstar. One of the best I have seen He (Jaiswal) and Harry Brook are two next-generation players. They are the ones that people will sit back and say they are good players. He played very well in Melbourne and was outstanding in Perth. He has come up leaps and bounds on this tour,” Darren said.

Lehmann believes Bumrah has all the goods to become India’s Test captain in the near-future:

“I presume he (Jasprit Bumrah) is the next captain when Rohit finishes. He did a really good job in Perth. He is the best bowler I have ever seen live. I have seen Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath and all, but I have not seen a bowler have an impact like him in a single series like Jasprit Bumrah has since Mitchell Johnson in the 2013-14 Ashes win. He will do well when he gets a chance to lead India,” Lehmann concluded.

Madan Lal Hails “Star” Bumrah, Tips the Pacer to Become Team India Test Captain

Former Team India cricketer Madan Lal believes Jasprit Bumrah has attained “star” status and can be unplayable across formats:

“I have no hesitation in saying Jasprit Bumrah is the Indian cricketer of the year. As a fast bowler, all I can say is he has been outstanding for India, be it in Tests and the ICC T20 World Cup. I told you before also, he is unplayable. The world is now saying Bumrah is the greatest, so there can be no debate,” Lal added.

Lal ended the interview with comments supporting Bumrah’s emergence as India’s next Test captain:

“Bumrah is a star, I would love to see him as the future Test captain of India,” he said.
