Rohit Sharma still has his eyes set on some records after performing at the summit of professional cricket for over a decade. The veteran Team India cricketer looks set to continue his record-breaking career after reeling in another impressive milestone in November 2025.
Sharma recently progressed in the overall ODI record rankings with a remarkable haul against South Africa during the encounter. He eased past Shahid Afridi’s record of 351 sixes with an assured batting display to lead the record standings. Sharma could break several records in 2026 if he continues in this fine run of form.
Let’s see some of the top records within Sharma’s reach, as he aims to represent India in international cricket at next year’s ODI World Cup.
400 ODI Sixes
Rohit has his sights set on 400 ODI sixes after breaching the 350+ mark in December 2025. His remarkable run as a late-stage career batsman could see him break a mammoth record with about 20 ODIs planned this year for India.
Sharma is currently at 355 sixes and could secure the run with games to spare if he plays in most fixtures this calendar year.
12,000 ODI Runs
Sharma crossed the 11,500 ODI runs mark in 2025 and can cross the 12,000-run mark this year. Over 485 runs should be enough to see Sharma enter elite territory among cricket’s top ODI batters of all time. He currently averages 50.0 per calendar year and could ease past this milestone with strong performances against England and the West Indies this year.
Overtaking Inzamam and Kallis
Sharma looks to leapfrog high-scoring ODI batting legends this year. The veteran Mumbaikar hitman could ease past South Africa’s Jacques Kallis with 64 ODI runs this season. Kallis retired with 11,579 ODI runs as one of the Proteas’ most-prolific all-time hitmen.
Rohit also needs 224 runs to eclipse the 11,739 runs record set by Pakistani batting legend Inzamam-ul-Haq. Both records are achievable this season.
A Century of 50+ Scores
Rohit Sharma currently has 94 ODI half-centuries or greater scores in his career. The star batsman has 33 centuries and 61 fifties so far in a run that is already worthy of admiration. Sharma can better his record in this year with six more half-centuries or tons in 2026.
Breaking into the century of 50+ scores will place Sharma in the elite territory including legends like Sachin Tendulkar and teammate Virat Kohli.
Bettering Hashim Amla’s International Centuries Record
Rohit currently has 50 international centuries (33 in ODIs, 5 in T20Is, and 12 in Tests) and ranks high among top 10 centurions in cricket history. Four more centuries will get him past Brian Lara (53 centuries), five more will eclipse Mahela Jayawardene (54 centuries) and match Hashim Amla’s haul (55 centuries).
Sharma needs six more to become cricket’s top player with the most international centuries.
Boosting “Daddy Hundred” Count
Only Rohit Sharma has managed to deliver eight 150+ scores in ODIs with two double-centuries among those hauls. The legendary batter will aim to extend his record this year to unassailable territory since no other cricketer currently has more than five ODI daddy-hundreds.
2,000+ Runs vs New Zealand
Rohit Sharma currently has over 2,000 ODI runs against Australia and will seek to achieve this tally against New Zealand this year.
