Pakistan finished the ICC World Cup 2023 with the 5th position on the points table. This resulted in the elimination of the Pakistan cricket team from the knockouts of this tournament.

After the 2011 World Cup, Pakistan for the 3rd time, failed to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals. Also, Pakistan for the first time lost 5 matches in a single World Cup. This includes the 4 consecutive losses for Pakistan against India, Australia, Afghanistan, and South Africa.

Additionally, the concluding match of the league stage against England made Pakistan face an embarrassing defeat by 93 runs.

Mohammad Amir’s reply to Ramiz Raja: Babar Azam gets support from Ramiz Raja

Former Pakistani cricketer and PCB chairman Ramiz Raja supported Babar Azam. Ramiz demanded a change in the system rather than the captain.

The former PCB chief defends Babar’s captaincy by sharing his opinion about Pakistan bowlers’ poor performance.  Also, the bowlers proved to be expensive by conceding maximum runs in this tournament.

Ramiz Raja said that when bowlers are unable to take wickets on a new ball, then Babar Azam as a captain cannot become responsible for his team’s loss.

Furthermore, Ramiz Raja attacked the Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) by making another statement. The former cricketer feels that just changing the captain does not yield beneficial results as the complete system needs to be changed.

Ramiz shared his opinion that the members of PCB feel that just changing the captain makes their job done faster.

Overall, Ramiz Raja feels that the Pakistan team’s cricketing skills have deteriorated vastly in recent times.

Mohammad Amir’s reply to Ramiz Raja: Instances of Change in Captain’s mindset rather than the system!

Sharing his important opinion on the show named Haarana Mana Hay, which was telecasted on Geo News, Mohammad Amir’s reply to Ramiz Raza became viral on social media.

Mohammad Amir’s reply to Ramiz Raja counter-attacked by stating that captaincy matters a lot compared to the members of the PCB management.

By providing certain instances about the best captaincy, Mohammad Amir’s reply to Ramiz Raja turned out to be a clear-cut explanation.

Mohammad Amir’s reply to Ramiz Raja about the poor system clarifies by saying that it consists of 5 to 6 members rather than acting just as a wall.

According to the former cricketer, a captain is one of the members who shoulder the responsibility to run Pakistan cricket.

Mohammad Amir wanted to prove that a change in the captain’s mindset could transform the entire team to achieve victories in many tournaments.

1. Pakistan’s victories in previous tournaments:

Amir clarifies by highlighting Pakistan’s victory in the 1992 World Cup under the captaincy of Imran Khan. Also, Pakistan was the winner of the ICC T20 World Cup 2009 and ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

Mohammad Amir explains that the system was the same now and then. Moreover, Pakistan was the runner-up in the 1999 World Cup.

2. MS Dhoni’s Captaincy:

India had to undergo a disastrous World Cup campaign under Rahul Dravid’s captaincy in 2007. Afterwards, MS Dhoni was appointed as the full-time captain across all formats.

Under Ms Dhoni’s leadership, Team India won the 2011 World Cup. Dhoni’s captaincy skills created history as India lifted the World Cup trophy after 28 years.

Mohammad Amir clarifies that Dhoni changed the pride of Indian cricket but did not change the system.

Additionally, Amir gives an example of how MS Dhoni transformed Jadeja into the best all-rounder. Earlier, Dhoni was criticized for giving maximum chances to Ravindra Jadeja. At present, Ravindra Jadeja turned out to be the core all-rounder for Team India.

Mohammad Amir indicates the clear mindset and approach of MS Dhoni. This is because India won these 4 tournaments under MS Dhoni’s captaincy:

  • T20 World Cup 2007
  • ODI World Cup 2011
  • ICC Champions Trophy 2013
  • Asia Cup 2010 and 2016

3. England’s comeback after the ICC World Cup 2015:

England after facing a terrible elimination from the knockouts of the ICC World Cup 2015, under Eoin Morgan’s captaincy, made a grand comeback. During that time, Eoin Morgan assured to make a massive comeback for the next edition’s World Cup.

Ultimately, England was the Champions of the ICC World Cup 2019 under Eoin Morgan’s captaincy.

By providing the example of Eoin Morgan, Mohammad Amir wanted to clarify an important statement. Mohammad Amir explains that the system cannot make miraculous changes unless the team’s captain changes their mindset and approach.
