The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season nears its Playoffs phase as a handful of franchises jostle for a place in this edition’s final. Several teams have been at the final stage of this competition multiple teams since 2008, and at least two of these familiar faces have a strong chance to be in the IPL 2026 final.

1. Chennai Super Kings – 10 IPL Finals

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) featured in their 10th IPL final during the 2023 season. That appearance against the Gujarat Titans also coincided with their record-equalling fifth IPL title so far.

2. Mumbai Indians – 6 IPL Finals

The Mumbai Indians (MI) have featured in four fewer IPL finals than CSK so far, and with their non-participation in the 2026 playoffs confirmed, that figure is set to stand for one more season. However, MI has a better win record at IPL finals compared to CSK.

The Mumbai franchise has tasted 5 triumphs out of 6 IPL finals they featured in so far. Their only IPL final defeat coincidentally came against CSK in 2010. MI has not been in an IPL final since 2020, but their legacy as a top franchise is unquestionable.

3. Kolkata Knight Riders

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been in 4 IPL finals across 18 campaigns so far. Purple and Gold squads have 3 victories out of 4 finals played in so far to register their place as one of the IPL’s top teams in history.

4. Royal Challengers Bengaluru

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have the worst record at IPL finals so far. The team has been in 4 IPL finals, but lost 3 of those matches in 2009, 2011, and 2016 respectively.   Their solitary triumph in an IPL final came in 2025 to end their horrid run of championship match losses after 18 seasons.

5. Sunrisers Hyderabad

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won their first-ever IPL final in 2016 before going on to lose the next two in 2018 and 2024. SRH has been in 3 IPL finals so far since becoming a franchise in 2013.
