IPL Odds 2024 Preview: RCB favorites to WIn IPL 2024

Several IPL odds 2024 previews do not place Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as the top franchise to clinch the title this season. At least two other IPL franchises have better odds placements than RCB ahead of the start of India’s premier Twenty20 (T20) league.

Are RCB Favorites to Win IPL 2024?

Currently, pre-tournament odds suggest that RCB are not the favorites to lift the IPL 2024 title later this year. The franchise remains ambitious to lift their maiden IPL trophy, but the present probabilities do not place them higher than every other team this season.

Which Teams are Favorites to Win IPL 2024?

The current favorites to win IPL 2024 are current defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), five-time champions the Mumbai Indians (MI), and 2022 IPL champions the Gujarat Titans (GT).

Why are RCB Not Favorites to Win According to IPL Odds 2024?

History of underachieving

The RCB squad are perennial underachievers in IPL, having failed to lift the trophy at least once after participating in every season. Since 2008, RCB has been in several IPL playoffs and finals, but have always come up short when it mattered most.

Tough opposition

Several opposition teams strengthened their ranks at the IPL 2024 auction and shortly after, bringing in top talent to fill vital roles. Stronger ranks reduce the chances of RCB lifting the title.

Aging players

RCB made some reinforcements during the IPL 2024 auction, but some commentators believe the entire squad needs thorough work. Some players in the squad are well over their 30s and past prime age in this sport. However, experience from such veterans could be crucial, but the numbers suggest that youth could be what RCB lacks in every department this season.

What Do the IPL Odds 2024 Say About RCB’s Title Chances?

Recent odds numbers show that IPL odds 2024 do not favor RCB as title contenders this season. Rising odds for RCB show that bookmakers have lower expectations from the franchise to put up any title-winning performance this season. Sixteen (16) years down the line, RCB fail to make any tangible impact at the finals after featuring in multiple playoffs.

What are RCB’s Plans Ahead of the IPL 2024?

RCB head coach Andy Flower revealed the team’s plans for the IPL 2024 season during a recent interview:

We want to play a type of game that we will be proud of. We will attack the game, and that will give us a really good chance of getting through to playoffs. Once you get through, then you’ve got a good chance at the title. So, there are steps along the way that we must take,” he said.

The head coach also understands RCB’s current atmosphere after their continuous failed attempts to lift an IPL title since 2008:

I’m really excited about that challenge (of joining a side that is yet to win an IPL title). It is one of the main reasons I wanted to take this job. It gives me a very exciting opportunity to see if we can do something special with RCB. We have got a really exciting group of players. I think our squad is strong. We have got some great experience in the dressing room,” Flower added.

In the overall game plan, Flower believes all-rounders will play a vital role in RCB’s title chances this season. He also acknowledges the team’s potential to finally end their one-and-a-half decade trophy drought in 2024:

All-rounders, we think, are going to play a really important part in the tournament. The opportunity of winning a tournament is right there in front of us, but my personal view of taking on a challenge like that is always simplifying the route,”

Who Will RCB Play First in the IPL 2024?

RCB is on schedule to play the IPL 2023 defending champions CSK in their first game at the 2024 edition. Both teams have a rich history in this tournament with CSK denying the Bengaluru-based side access to the title on multiple occasions. CSK has either directly denied RCB a chance to lift the IPL or stopped them during playoffs, prolonging their wait for a first-ever title.
