Punjab Kings (PBKS) cricketer Shashank Singh believes his side will lift the IPL 2026 title:
“This year is all about winning the trophy,” the PBKS cricketer said.
“Everyone, from players to support staff, shares that mindset. We know where we fell short last year and we are determined to cross that line this time,” Shashank added.
The franchise made it to the 2025 IPL final to register their second appearance at that stage since the competition’s inaugural season. PBKS narrowly missed out on their first ever IPL crown against first time winners and IPL 2025 champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on June 3, 2025.
Shashank Singh Credits Ricky Ponting for Current Form
Shashank gives full recognition to PBKS coach Ricky Ponting for offering support to boost his current form ahead of IPL 2026:
“Ricky sir has been a huge influence. Last year, when I wasn’t scoring much in practice games, he told me to stop overthinking and just express myself. That really helped me. Even during my injury, he kept checking in. That support builds confidence,” Singh said about the legendary Australian.
PBKS “Going to Perform Better” at IPL 2026, Singh Says
Singh notes that PBKS failed to perform at their best on home turf in the 2026 season compared to IPL 2025. The franchise struggled to register positive results at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium, Mullanpur throughout IPL 2025. However, they made up for most of those losses at home with victories at away grounds in the competition.
Shashank says PBKS now know where the mistakes came from, and would work to fix the problems in 2026:
“Absolutely, sir, last year, as you said, our results on home grounds were not that good, but obviously this time we rectified many of our mistakes, especially as a batting unit, where we mostly struggled last time. We worked on the technical points, and you will see, this year we are going to perform better,”
