Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal Allegedly Tosses Cigarette While Driving

A viral video alleges that Indian cricket star Yuzvendra Chahal controversy tossed a lit cigarette while driving in early April 2026. The clip shows an individual that resembles Chahal with a cigarette, taking a puff, and then dropping it casually on the road.

Fans Allege Hypocrisy from Chahal After Cigarette Toss Clip Goes Viral

Cricketers are usually held to a higher standard than professionals in many other sports. Fans expect these players to live by example and keep to their word at all times. Backlash from fans reportedly gain their foundation from a recent interview Chahal granted to fellow cricket star AB de Villiers.

Chahal reportedly said that he hopes to become a role model based on his age and senior status within the squad:

“I’ve stopped drinking alcohol, and it’s been more than six months. I am now 35, so I want to be more active and give my 150% for my team. As a senior player, I want people in the IPL to learn something from me,” Chahal said during a YouTube interview with de Villiers.

Netizens React to Cigarette Toss Clip

Internet users shared their opinion on the clip alleging that Chahal tossed a cigarette during rush hour. One user claimed Chahal’s conduct was “disgusting” and called for punishment of his “uncivilized behaviour”:

“Utterly shameful and disgusting. Such arrogance and uncivilized behaviour should be punished. Make an example of him so that others can learn to fear law,” the user said.

Another netizen accused Chahal of having “zero civic sense” after the clip gained online traction.

Why Does Yuzvendra Chahal’s Auction Price Keep Rising?

The correlation between a cricketer’s profile and auction value has always been strong in IPL cricket. Chahal is one of few cricketers in the league who have maintained a steady, upward movement in their auction price so far.

Moving from Rs. 6 crores to Rs. 18 crore per season in under a decade is no small feat for Chahal. However, he must rein in his excesses if it is confirmed that he was the individual in that cigarette-tossing clip. It is not unnatural for an IPL player to see his auction value drop significantly after few pre- or mid-season scandals.
